A remarkable ski area

It is linked to Val d'Isère by the Espace Killy, a ski area named after the skier Jean-Claude Killy, triple gold medallist at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble. The Espace Killy boasts more than 300 kilometres of downhill pistes and 89 lifts. Tignes is suitable for skiers of all levels. With 154 pistes to choose from, there is something for everyone, from beginners right up to advanced. The highest point of the resort rises to 3,450 metres and can be reached by funicular. From here, you can descend to the lowest point of the pistes, the village of Les Brévières at 1,550 metres.

The resort includes two snowparks, with rail areas, a gliss'park, and a boardercross. And daredevils can try out the pleasures of freestyle.

A piste with a free ski lift is set aside for the little ones so that they can learn, gently, to master their skis.

The resort of Tignes has many other activities, including sledging, cross-country skiing and some magnificent snowshoeing. Lots of other activities are available, including bowling and go-karting. Here, it's just a short step from one piste to another.

Tignes - A submerged past

The history of Tignes is quite unusual. The original village of Tignes was swallowed up in 1952 by the construction of the Chevril dam and its artificial lake. The people of Tignes had to rebuild their village a little higher up the valley. Shortly after this trauma, the winter sports resort was born, giving Tignes its fighting spirit, an electric, eclectic and sporting resort.

Les Brévières

Situated at 1,550 metres above sea level, next to the Chevril dam, Les Brévières is the most traditional-looking village in the resort. Located at the bottom of the slopes, it is directly accessible on skis by several pistes of different levels. Les Brévières is a strategic location, connected to Tignes 1800, and just 15 minutes from Val d'Isère by car.
