Overlooked by the huge Dent d'Oche, Bernex is a small traditional village with some fantastic, family-orientated snow sports opportunities. Between 1,000m and 2,000m you'll find over 50km of marked slopes to suit a variety of levels. And just ten minutes away the resort of Thollon les Mémises has another 50km of slopes which you can explore. Even more slopes can be found 30 minutes from Bernex in La Chapelle d’Abondance, which has links to the massive Portes du Soleil ski area.Although Bernex is small it shouldn't be dismissed for the bigger areas around it. The skiing and snowboarding is varied, the lift system is modern and efficient, and the scenery around the resort is spectacular. With views across Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc Massif, no one can fail to be impressed by the resort of Bernex. It's also an ideal resort to learn to ski or snowboard in. There's an excellent ski school, and because it's small it's not as intimidating as some of the bigger resorts can be.Walking and cross-country skiing are other great ways to explore and experience this amazing landscape, either along the Bernex Valley or across the Plateau du Gavot. Further exploration of the area can be undertaken during a classic Alpine sleigh ride, or by the less traditional means of paragliding. And fun for all the family can be found on Bernex's toboggan runs.Across the Plateau du Gavot the traditional town of Bernex has charming buildings, including lots of lovely chalets. And with views of the lake and mountains it's a picturesque base for your snow sports holiday. In town there are enough shops, restaurants, and bars to entertain, but overall this is a peaceful and relaxing town. For more activities you can visit the towns nearby, where you'll find a cinema, bowling alley, and sports centres.
