Situated in the vast Espace Killy area, Tignes is considered by many to be the best ski resort in the world - no mean accolade. With 300km of slopes accessible from Tignes there is something here for every level and specialism. There are areas specifically designed for different levels - they have "Tranquil" zones for beginners where speed limits apply, and for the other end of the spectrum there are "Naturide" off-piste areas where the most untouched natural snow is to be found.

As well as being a great resort for skiing and snowboarding Tignes has developed lots of other ways to enjoy its perfect snow. There's a varied and original range of activities at Tignes, like ice diving, ice racing, paragliding, skijoring, snow biking, snowmobiling, dog sledding, and heli-skiing. Along with its range of sports and activities Tignes also offers a wide range of accommodation options.

Made up of many villages there is somewhere to suit every type of holiday. The main village is Tignes le Lac, this is where you'll find the majority of facilities and accommodation. Val Claret is another large village in Tignes and, like Le Lac, has a vast range of services and facilities. The après ski in Val Claret and Le Lac is particularly good. The smaller villages of Tignes Le Lavachet, Les Boisses and Les Brévières offer a quieter pace of life. All have their own bars and restaurants, but for the liveliest nightlife you can use the transport links to the bigger villages.Getting to Tignes is easy. Chambéry is the closest airport to the resort - only a 2 and a half hour drive. Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport is the next best with a transfer time of 3 hours. Whichever you choose weekend trips, short-breaks or longer holidays to Tignes won't be a problem.
